Who we are

VIN from Reg is operated by Rego Notes, a business based in Australia, which is the controller of the information described here. Contact: support@vinfromreg.co.uk.

What we collect

• The registration number you look up, and the vehicle details returned for it.
• Your email address, which you give to Stripe at checkout, so we can send you the result.
• Payment details held by Stripe. Stripe processes your card. We receive a record of the payment, including the billing country, but never your full card number.
• Your IP address at the time of the lookup.

There are no accounts on this site and we do not ask for your name or address.

Why we use it

• To carry out the lookup you asked for and send you the result (performance of a contract).
• To take payment and keep the records that tax and accounting law require (legal obligation).
• To prevent misuse of the Service and respond to lawful requests about who looked up a vehicle (legitimate interests).

Who it is shared with

• Stripe, to process the payment.
• Our vehicle data provider, which receives the registration number only.
• Brevo, which delivers the result email.
• Google Cloud, which hosts the Service and stores lookup records.

We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. These providers process information outside the United Kingdom, including in Australia and the United States, under the safeguards their own terms provide.

How long we keep it

Lookup and payment records are kept for seven years to meet accounting obligations, then deleted.

Cookies

The site remembers the last registration you entered in your browser’s session storage, so it can be put back in the box if a lookup finds nothing. It is cleared when you close the tab. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used. Email support@vinfromreg.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Vehicle information

A VIN and a vehicle’s specification describe a vehicle, not a person. The Service does not return the name, address or any other detail of a vehicle’s keeper.
